How do I use the gauge set with my vacuum pump?

If your ready to vacuum an empty system, you begin by attaching the middle hose (yellow) to the vacuum pump port.  With both manifold valves turned off, attach the red hose to the high side service port, and the blue hose to the low side service port.  If the system is empty, and ready for evacuation, you should see 0 psi pressure on both Gages.  Turn on the vacuum pump and slowly open the high and low side control valves.  This opens both sides of the system for evacuation.  You should begin seeing the needle on the low side compound gauge drop into the vacuum range.  When you are done  vacuuming, turn both control valves off, then switch off the vacuum pump.  You may now remove the center hose from the vacuum pump.  Your blue low side gauge should still indicate vacuum.  You can watch this gauge to make sure the system is holding vacuum.
