OK Chick, you sound close on explanation.. Readings are ok with guages, around 30-40 on low and 200-240 on high. But the high side climbs slowly until shut off. By slowly, I mean about 1-3 minutes. Doesnt just shoot up immediately. A/C is Antarctic cold (burr) for a minute or two and slowly goes down to room(car) temperature. Then it starts over again. In the past I usually associated this with low freon. As for the dryer (I dont know) I was standing there , and after they looked at guages and other stuff for a while, the guy took off the electrical connector on top and touched it with something (a tool or something) and immediately said "your dryer is clogged up, stopped up" or something to that effect. He sounded real sure of his diagnosis. I said "fix it". Three hours later. They say "something strange is going on and we cant figure it out." I give them credit for admitting that. And I was walking all around the shop and they were working on it the whole time. The company used to be the one or one of the ones to make under dash air units up until about 1975. (Climatic Air) now, not sure if that was the name then. However, I am only assuming they flushed it out. I only saw them putting in the freon. Wasnt right there the whole time ,just in close proximity. Also the guy at the electrical shop said while looking at guages that the low side should be going below the 35-40 while it was cutting off or on ---Im not sure which now. But it wasnt acting exactly right either. Low side was staying pretty steady I think. Also he turned car off while gauges hooked up and said they should stabilize at equal pressures.. They appeared to be headed it that direction. I think he disconnected just before it got there. That seemed to be true. Also, I would like to say thanks again. It is real generous of ya'll to take the time to answer and try to figure out someone else's problems. This is a great message board with great folks.
