The link at the top of the board, acsource.com, sells quality name-brand products at a fair price, and sponsors this forum. You won't go wrong buying from them. Looking at their offerings, I'd go for the Robinair or Yellow Jacket 4 cfm pumps. They're pro quality tools that you can, if need be, resell on eBay for a high % of the purchase price. I'd go for the YJ 1.5 cfm if the extra $50 for the 4 cfm were a deal breaker.

Renting the tools is a definite possibility, but it's a local thing. Some (cooler) areas you can't find a/c tool rentals, other areas you'll have a choice of places.
