Unfortunately, this is just a one time thing and I can't justify spending $250 (such as the 1.5 CFM YJ) or more on a pump I may never use again. But shopping around for to get an R-12 charge is making me consider buying the tools, since the chargine service is so expensive. Plus I think it would be a fun learning experience.

I've been reading past posts on using old refridgerator compressors as vacuum pumps. That sounds interesting enough that I may just attempt such. Do you think such an approach is viable?
