Subject:    Restored 280Z Not Cool Enough

Maybe Chick or someone could answer this for me. I just finished my resto on a 280Z, turned out great, but now I want to drive it most days and the air just does not cut it on hot days. I get about 58 at the vents about 2 - 4 degrees hotter at idle, but just does not seem to cool very well and takes a long time to get down that cold. I charged up with Freeze 12 just to see if the system works and does not leak as that is all I can get not being certified. So far no leaks and seems to be working, just not cool enough. I evacuated for 1/2 hour and charged with the Freeze 12 is all I did. August coming around the corner and I suspect it will work even less then. It is humid here in the South any suggestions? I read about checking the condeser by running water or fan at the radiator to see if it cools further. Do these car just not cool very well by design or is there something I can do. Would it get any colder by taking it somewhere to get charged with R12?

Thanks,

Sean
