Subject:    87 RIVIERA AC QUESTION

Year: 87
Make: BUICK
Model: RIVIERA

High Side: 235    Low Side: 30
Refrigerant: 134A
Outside Temp: 90

I just finished retroing this car. Vent temps 42-47 degrees. After flushing the system with brake cleaner and using a ford blue orfice tube and changing the accumulator then pulling a long vacuum, I flushed the used salvage yard compressor with clean ester oil. I added all 8oz of oil to the accumulator and then started to charge the system when all of the sudden the high pressure hose on the back of the compressor burst after just 1 can of 134a. I replaced the hose and started charging again and had no problems until I pulled the low side hose off. The schrader valve was and still is stuck open. I put my hose back on and then pulled it back off, but it still leaked. I just put the plastic cap on it and it seemed to stop it. Will this cap stay on or will it blow off? Should I worry about it or not?
Thanks to everyone on this board for all the great info! JOHN T.
