My Hayden brand fan clutch was bought in 1995 from Pep Boys and I just replaced it (which definitely helped the AC). I had kept the receipt and Pep Boys just handed over a new one, lifetime warranty. I live in Arizona (hot), and every vehicle I've had with a fan clutch has needed it replaced approx every 5 to 6 years, 6000 miles per year (usually due to overheating symptoms in traffic, but that wasn't the case this time, just poor AC operation); I think the heat just kills them, and if they were indestructible and never broke, there wouldn't be replacement fan clutches. So maybe get one there and swap it every two years like Chick recommended.
