Yes, you can replace the non-superheat one with a superheat model. The rear head will have a hole (with a plug in it) for a superheat switch. On your application, the plug stays in, and just goes for the ride.

Just one caution; the plug is not very big, but on some applications, there was a problem where brackts or valve covers were so close, that the plug could interfere. Been a long time since I've looked under the hood of a 396. So, when do we go for a ride?
