Year: 91
Make: ford
Model: explorer

Refrigerant: r-134

Little Help? Switched a/c on while driving. Grinding noise and hot smell resulted. Turned off. Now when starting car, the compressor pully spins from belt and makes grinding noise. When attempt to turn on a/c, compressor trys to engage but does not makes terrible noise. Recently had conversion performed and had been working very well. Prior to conversion in June, a/c had not been used for approximately 5 yrs. as I was tired of constatnly having it fixed. Not much actual use time on the a/c system though car is 11 years old. Any ideas? estimates? questions to ask when having it serviced?
