Refrigerant: HC On a recently purchased 90 Honda Civic that had been kit converted to R134 Non-working leaky A/C. Replaced compressor, O rings, shrader valves, receiver drier and 7 oz of mineral oil (should have been 5 but that is another story) Recharged with HC, overcharged a bit actually and damaged the compressor after a few days. All that is backround. When I flushed out the system the oil came out looking like it had molybdenum di sulfide or carbon in it. No metal dust, no gooey junk, just blackish oil. Not burned brown, charlcoal color. Took the Matshustia compressor apart out of curiosity but no clues there (reed valves do not close tight) My question is: What is this stuff and did it ruin my shiny new receiver drier? I got a new compressor and a bigger evap and plan to use R134 this time.
