Bob,
I work at a bank, and on a slow day I started to read the label on our compressed air canister. Low and behold, it was 100% tetrafluoroethane. Being a chemical engineering student who is up to his eyeballs in organic chemistry I decided to search the internet for the substance. That brought me here, but it also brought me somewhere very scary. Apparently, some "rescue inhalers" use this gas, along with trichloromonofluoromathane and dichlorodifluoromethane (AKA CFC's) as a propellant. Last time I checked, didn't those catalyze the decomposition of O_3_ to O_2_?
As a side note, do you know where I might be able to read the actual EPA laws on tetrafluoroethane?
