Actually, I noticed that the low-side line never got cold while charging which puzzled me. It seemed warm most of the time or, at best, only slightly cool. I'm used to seeing the low-side line quite cold if not frosty.

I did follow that basic charging procedure except that I had the engine running from the beginning of the charging procedure instead of letting the system vacuum pull in some of the R-134a.
