I am looking to convert four cars to something other than R12. I am looking at either 406A or 134A.

92 Mitsubishi Colt
87&88 Mitsubishi Starion
93 Acura Legend

If 406A is a direct drop in, that would obviously make it much simpler to do. My concern is the incompatibility issue with the compressor shaft seals on some certain compressors.(York, Techumseh and the old Chrysler RV2 made with the Buna-N rubber) How can I tell which compressors these cars have and what type of seals they use? Does anyone know offhand if I will have a problem just dropping 406A (after evacuating the R12 and drawing vacuum) in on these cars? Will the 406A attack the existing seals or hoses? I understand that if the cars don't have barrier hoses, then they will be subject to leak some out. How bad of a leak are we talking here? Total leakdown after a few months or days? Thanks in advance for your feedback and thanks to those experts helping us DIYs.
