Hi guys...
I bought a car. A/C- no cold air. Nothing. Also no knowledge about A/C. I bought 2x12 onz. Refr. 134a + 1 oil and I charged system system thru suction service valve (low side) in same order. Recomendetation from Murray's store. Of course I wasn't told about pressures. Worked great. After 3 weeks no cold air at all. I thought it must have been a leak. I bought leak detector. (red dye)
I charged system with leak detector, 2 refrigerants and oil. I believe so. I didn't see any sign of leak. It was working but not so well as it was before. Next day the same situation. No cold air. "Damn, it's gone again. I should look better for a leak sign" A bought another stop leak. Started charge system and refrigirant started to come thru some kind of safety valve. Sorry I don't know what is the name for it in English but you'll know for sure what I am talking about. I realized that something was wrong and I probably overcharged system. I stopped everything and went home to find some information. Don't tell me I should have done as a first thing. I realized that already and I also know I have done many mistakes. When I found out how much they charge you in service just for checking A/C system I made a decision to do it by my self again but the right way.

I've read many messages on this message board. I know little more about A/C systems now but still not 100% sure about many things. I bought mainfold gauge and all hoses. I started to measure pressures and after couple of minutes refrigirant started to escape realy fast between red hose and high side connect valve. I stopped engine and tighted everything up.. Uff.... That's what happened. I ended up with high side 275 and low side 40 while the compressor was turning. It was a big lesson and I have learned a lot.
I want to ask you for help. What should be next step to fix that. I also have Chevy Malibu 98' with poor air condition. Low 57 High 225 probably overcharged too.

I would also appreciate link to complete information about A/C systems. Where can I find proper pressures for each car?

Thank you for advice.
