For starters, your Dodge uses an EXCELLENT 10PA17C Nippondenso compressor that has a very low failure rate. Based on what you say, it seems that the clutch bearing is the problem. We've seen a few compressors where the nosepiece breaks off and the clutch can't be turned, rendering the compressor useless, however, we replace the nosepiece and problem is fixed. I strongly suggest to shop around.

When a compressor must be replaced, you aldo have to replace the filter and expansion valve. System is flushed. 10PA17C failures DO NOT require condenser or evaporator replacement.
