Thank for the info. I have shutoff valve at the gauges. one closes the high side from the vacuum the other closes the low side from vacuum or freon. I also have shutoff valves oon my quick connector for the ports. I pull a vacuum on both the high & low side. After my gauges read 30 in hg. I close both port at my quick connector ( to keep from losing vacuum). I then close the valves on my gauges (that should close off the vacuum pump to the gauges. I am still reading 30 in hg. I the open the ports at the quick connectors. I would think that if a vacuum in pull and your gauges and connector don't leak you should see the vacuum in your system and be able to monitor gauges for leaks.
