I know this is an auto A/C site but ... R22 dye detector?

I see that the leak detector dyes(Fluoro-Lite/E) for R134a and R-12 systems have ester oil in them. Could I use this safely in a R-22 home A/C? If you only add 4 ounces, it doesn't seem like the oil in the dye would do any harm.
What kind of oil is in a home A/C system anyway?

BTW, I just converted my 93 Cherokee to 134a. Flushed the whole system with Flush & Clean http://www.id-usa.com/flush.htm then used the conversion kit. I get the feeling that these kits are not well respected here. True?
