As vegas stated,you can buy the hose "kits"from acsource.com to convert your R12 hoses to R134a. EPA requires you make them permanent, but... Anyway, PSi is PSI, so they will work fine. Same with HG..Wether you use R12 or R134a gauges,the readings in PSI or HG will be the same and accurate.
I wouldn't use that when working on HVAC where knowing what the suction line temp and super cooling is.
But then MVAC with all the controls,switches,etc can be as complicated as a big HVAC unit.
With HVAC pressures,super heat wet bulb,dry bulb,duck size,ambient temps,humidity all have to balance out so we use the gauges for the freon were using.
