I have a '92 Pontiac Firebird Formula, retrofitted to R-134a last summer. (The shop just evacuated the system, added oil, charged with 134a, checked for leaks...they didn't change any parts.)
The air coming from the dash vents is cold, but the airflow is so weak that you can barely feel it as you sit in the seat. My friend's '88 Firebird GTA feels about the same, so maybe that's just how these cars were made.
All of the vaccuum doors seem to be operating properly. I replaced the in-dash control head. I sealed up where the blower motor bolts to the evaportator housing. I removed the resistor pack and sprayed brake cleaner onto the evaporator core to remove any refrigerant oil that may have leaked. I tried wiring the fan directly to the battery to make sure the resistors were working properly. None of this has helped.
I heard somewhere that you can buy an extra-powerful blower motor. If this is true, could someone help me find one for sale?
