The ac in my car was running and working fine. I had just returned from a trip of about 120 miles. Coming from the exit ramp from the interstate, I came up to a stop light. Right there my ac stop working and my car just stalled out. I looked under the hood to see what could have happened. The first thing I noticed was that the belt that turns the compressor was smoking! The belt was extremely tight and very, very hot. Tried to restart the car, but belt wouldn't turn.
Did my compressor lock up? I think it is a serpentine belt, or one that runs a couple other things under the hood. Would a locked up compressor prevent the car from starting/running? Advice please.
