Sounds like you lost a major fusible link. I don't like these and much prefer the foreign car technique of a box of BIG fuses. You need to find out what blew it or maybe you will just get lucky and a repair will do just fine. Fusible links look just like wires--in fact, they are wires but are of an exact size. Someone else will hafta help you find them. GM use to pull them off the starter wire.
You will need a wiring diagram to see what all the fusible link supplies. So far, the fan and AC clutch are not shorted.
